Thailand Honeymoon Itinerary: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Lanta, and Krabi

The Thailand trip for your own postcard: Bangkok, northern temples, ethical elephant encounters, and unhurried days on the islands.

Unhurried Island Days

The two of you settle into Krabi, Koh Lanta, or Koh Yao Noi, where emerald water and limestone islands set the pace. Explore by longtail boat, swim, and let the days slow down.

A few days to simply enjoy each other and the beauty around you.

Ethical Elephant Encounters

Spend time at Elephant Nature Park, where rescued elephants roam freely through forests and open grasslands, living life on their own terms. Watching them move through the landscape at their own pace feels completely different from anything you experience at home.

A close encounter with elephants free to be elephants.

Electric Evenings

Watch Thailand's national sport unfold from ringside seats at Rajadamnern Stadium, the sport's premier venue. Feel the energy build as fighters enter the ring, lights sweep across the arena, and the crowd becomes part of the fight itself.

Bangkok

Days 1 - 2

Wat Arun & Wat Pho

rajadamnern stadium Muay thai
ROOFTOP DINNERS
Tuk tuk street food tours

Your first stop is Bangkok. When you land, you’re met off the plane and walked through fast-track immigration, so you don’t start your trip waiting in line. A private car takes you to a riverside hotel with a rooftop pool and views over the water, and the long months of wedding planning start to fall behind you.

The first day stays open, built around when you land. The evening is yours to shape: a drink at one of the rooftop bars, dinner somewheren booked ahead of time so you don’t have to think about it, or a Thai massage to land properly. Nothing is required.

The second day can take whatever shape suits the two of you. One starts early, with a private guide, at the old city’s temples before the heat, and ends ringside at a Muay Thai match. Ringside puts you in the roar and the movement of it; the club-class seats trade some of that closeness for a clearer view of the fight.

Another opens at an authentic floating market, or the vast Chatuchak market on weekends, then gives the evening to food: a private tuk-tuk and a guide who knows the city’s eating, stopping at the markets and restaurants a first-timer would never find alone, ending with dessert in Chinatown.

A third stays in the city by day, wandering Songwat Road and the riverside malls like ICONSIAM, then a sunset cocktail at a rooftop bar before dinner. This is a city made for food, from street stalls to Michelin stars, and the evening is yours to spend in it.

For the history lovers, there is also a full day out to Ayutthaya, the ancient capital, with a private car and guide.

OVERNIGHT SLEEPER TO CHIANG MAI

Optional, +1 night

landscapes
First-Class CAbin
Early Mornings
There are two ways north. The standard is a short morning flight, handled door to door. The other is the trip that people remember: a private first-class sleeper cabin on the overnight train to Chiang Mai.

A locked two-berth room with a washbasin and a window, dinner as Bangkok thins into open country, and the reason this route beats every other sleeper train in Thailand, waking as the train climbs into the northern mountains, mist still sitting in the valleys, Chiang Mai arriving slowly through the glass. It adds a night and costs you a little sleep, and Brandon thinks it's worth it.
Chiang Mai

Days 3 - 6

ELEPHANT NATURE PARK
OLD CITY WALLS & Wat Phra Singh
MAE KAMPONG
 Room for ADVENTURE
The move north is handled end to end: a private car to the airport, the flight booked, a car waiting on the other side. Chiang Mai is cooler, small and walkable, an old quarter still ringed by its original walls and moat. The first day is kept easy: a couples spa, time to settle in, and an evening on foot along the walls and into the old town.
The next morning is at Elephant Nature Park, where there's no riding, bathing, or hand-feeding for photos. Close contact like that stresses the animals and habituates them to people, so here you watch them be elephants: roaming, bathing in the river, undisturbed.
The day after can go a few ways: a slow drive up to Mae Kampong, where the coffee is grown a few steps from where it is poured; a market-to-table cooking class with Chef Yui, who walks you through choosing the right ingredients before you cook them; or a morning monk's blessing for the marriage, a quiet, traditional start to married life.

The last day in the north is the active one, and it is yours to point in any direction. Take the wheel of a tuk-tuk, climb onto an ATV, hike to a waterfall, ride a Vespa through the mountains, or take a mountain bike out for the morning. Whichever you choose, a guide goes with you.
Island Time, KOH LANTA

Days 7-10

Beachfront relaxation
Koh Rok Snorkeling
UNHURRIED DAYS
Longtail Boats
The flight south and the transfer to the coast are handled, the same as every move on the trip. Koh Lanta is long and low, with wide quiet beaches and little reason to hurry.
How the days fill is up to you. Some couples take a private dinner set on the sand. Others start the morning with a Muay Thai or yoga session, then nothing else all day. There is snorkeling out at Koh Rok and through Mu Ko Lanta National Park, reached by private speedboat, or a day kayaking the sea caves and cliffs at Talabeng, with a slow cruise back. Whatever the resort runs, from kayaks to a spa afternoon, is arranged with a word to your host.
It is the part of the trip with the least planned, and the most room to do nothing.
Krabi

Days 11-15

Railay Beach
SUNSET sailing in Phang nga bay
Hong island by Longtail
Phi Phi islands
The last stretch is Krabi, under tall limestone cliffs that rise straight out of the sea. The days stay slow. Soak in the natural hot springs inland, where the water sits warm in pools in the forest, and take a boat out as the light goes, watching the sun drop over the bay from the water.
The islands offshore are the part of Thailand most couples picture first. Phi Phi is beautiful, and most want to see it at least once. For the same water with fewer boats, Brandon will point you to his own quieter favorites, reached by speedboat or long-tail boat.

Most hotels in Thailand set early-bird rates by how far ahead you book, with savings at the 90, 60, and 30-day marks.

The savings are set by the property, and they are larger the earlier you book. Whichever window you are in, booking sooner puts you in a better one.

What Our Clients Say

"Brandon did a wonderful job planning our honeymoon! He was very communicative and even with a 14-hour time difference between us he was able to call me on my schedule to figure out exactly what I wanted. All of the hotels and activities he chose were amazing. The service throughout Thailand is unmatched.

Krabi was our favourite part! The snorkeling tour they booked for us was amazing and the Panan Resort had the best service, pool, prices, and view."

Frequently Asked Questions

Who actually plans this trip?

Brandon plans every honeymoon personally. One call to understand the two of you, a route built around your dates, and nothing booked until you approve it. A small team works behind him on logistics and in-country coordination, but the person you talk to at the start is the person who stays with your trip through the end.

Is Cognizant Voyages a licensed, legitimate operator?

Yes. Cognizant Voyages (Thailand) is a tour operator licensed by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, License No. 11/13229.

Every trip carries the tourist accident and medical cover required under Thai law. Arranging your own comprehensive travel insurance is still recommended for trip cancellation and wider medical cover.

How many days does this trip cover, and can it be shortened or extended?

As shown above, the route runs Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Lanta, and Krabi, typically 2 nights in Bangkok, 4 in Chiang Mai, and 3 to 5 each in Koh Lanta and Krabi, though this can run longer or shorter. The nights shown are a starting point, not a fixed shape. Extending or shortening any leg, for example three nights in Koh Lanta and four in Krabi, is common, and the whole route is adjusted to fit your dates.

What's included in the price, and are there hidden costs?

Most Culture & Coast itineraries start from US$2,500 per person. That includes accommodation, domestic flights and regional transfers, guides, drivers and their tips, and select meals and experiences. The exact total depends on hotel category and season. We confirm the exact total before anything is booked.

What's the best time of year for this itinerary?

November through April is generally the dry season across Thailand and the most reliable stretch for this route. Brandon does not typically route couples through the Koh Lanta and Krabi portion of this trip between mid-May and the end of October, since this is when the region's boat operators close for the season and conditions on the water become unpredictable. If your dates fall in that window, the itinerary is adjusted to spend time in the Gulf Islands of Koh Samui, Koh Tao, or on the mainland in local towns such as Chumphon, Khanom, and Songkhla.

Rainy season reaches every part of Thailand in September and October, so expect some tropical rain wherever you go.

Is this itinerary fixed, or built around us?

The route above shows the fullest version of Culture & Coast, a starting point, not a fixed shape. Unlike a standard package with the same stops, Brandon plans the trip personally, and he's the same person you reach once you land.

What happens if something goes wrong while we're there?

You are in daily contact with Brandon by WhatsApp for the length of the trip, so there is always a direct line to the person who planned your trip, not a general support line. If a flight is delayed, a boat is canceled, or plans need to change, that gets handled by the same person who built the itinerary, not a different department.
